Gillespie Centre

Set in the heart of Cambridge, Clare College’s RIBA award-winning Gillespie Centre opened for business in January 2009. The Gillespie Centre offers a variety of modern conference rooms, with an auditorium, Garden Room and smaller breakout venue, located in picturesque, riverside grounds

The Centre, built to the highest standards of sustainability, uses solar thermal panels and a ground source heat pump for efficient heating and cooling. Energy consumption is kept to a minimum with extensive insulation and large, solar-coated, south facing windows which limit heat gain in the summer, keeping delegates cool at all times.

The Gillespie Centre is fully equipped with the latest technological facilities and supported by a knowledgeable, trained AV team.

There is good ventilation in the Riley Auditorium with two additional CO2 sensors, one upper rear and one lower front. The system is set up to keep the CO2 levels at below 800ppm. In the Elton Bowring Room, ventilation will be possible with plenty of open windows to the exterior. The Garden Room has sliding doors that open wide on to the exterior patio.

Access

All of the Gillespie Centre (and Old Court Buttery) is accessible to wheelchairs with a lift within the building, reaching each floor. For any guests that will be staying overnight within the College, there are a limited amount of accessible rooms that we can reserve as required. A hearing loop system is also available. For more detailed information, please be in touch with conferences@aotos.org.uk with your particular requirements.
